Privateer Press and Across the Pond Studios have teamed up to create a new comic miniseries, published by Desperado, introducing the world of giant monsters from Privateer Press’ upcoming Monsterpocalypse Collectible Miniatures Game (CMG).

Across the Pond Studios is working closely with the game designer and creator of Monsterpocalypse Matt Wilson to bring the world of the game to life on the comic page. In addition to creative direction from Matt Wilson, the series credits include story by Stephan Nilson (Smallville and Batman Strikes), script by Jason Avery and Stephan Nilson, pencils by Karl Waller (X-Men and Motorhead), inks by Rick Bonilla (Atomik Mike), coloring by Barry Williams (Atomik Mike), and cover art supplied by the Privateer Press stable of artists. 

This is a great way to reach out to comic fans in addition to gamers thereby expanding the game’s base.  PP is further expanding on this in two ways.  First, people who collect issues 1-3 of the comic will be able to get a FREE Limited Edition Mega Sky Sentinel.  This method has been used by PP before in conjunction with No Quarter Magazine and Warmachine (limited edition Eiryss).

Secondly, anyone who goes to the San Diego Comicon in July can get a FREE issue #0 of the comic at the Privateer Press booth.

Rising Phoeinx Games is a great store in Cherry Valley, Ma run by the incredible Lia Klunk.  If you’ve never been to RPG now is the perfect time.  Get directions or contact the store directly.  You can call them at (508) 892 – 5190 or post on their message boards.

Next cast will be Thursday February 28, 2008.

If you’re in the gaming field and you are in New England you go to TotalCon. It is simple as that and this year will be the 22nd consecutive year of its running. There will be a lot happening at TotalCon with a many reasons why you should go. The tourney will take place Thursday February 21, 2008 and end on Sunday February 24th. There’s a lot of registration options available to people but admittance tickets start at $30 for all weekend (Adults), $15 all weekend (Youth), or you can buy a ticket for a single day. Thursday and Sunday is $5 (Adults) and $2.50 (Youth) with Friday and Saturday costing $10 (Adult) and $5 (Youth). We have made the Registration Form available for all of you to download and use. It is a PDF so you need Preview (Mac) or Acrobat Reader to view it. Both of those programs are available for free.

There’s a lot of events to register for and naturally those cost extra. The spotlight event is a 1850pt 40k Last Man Standing tournament on Saturday. It is back to back 6 rounds with RTT rules, pop quizzes, judges can mess with your minds…intense battle for bragging rights and large prize! A $20 registration fee covers all of that for the all day and into the night tournament.

There will be over 220 other events, games, and tournies at the con spread over the four days in Mansfield. You can get more information by going to the Total Confusion website, calling 603-644-0437, or e-mailing TRUTHFROMCHAOS [at] totalcon [dot] com.

Ever since our podcast in 2006 we promoted anything local. We promoted local game stores, local gaming groups, local gamers, and local musicians. We’ve promoted Chester French, which started in Cambridge and have since been featured in the HBO hit series Entourage and are now signed by a major label. We’ve promoted Matthew Ebel who has created original compositions for Ikea, Bud Light, Crayola and local podcasts like the Manic Mommies. We are now happy to promote Robby Roadsteamer who is a regular on WBCN at night with Hardy.

Robby hit the Boston music scene running and received wide coverage on VH1 for his hit single I Put a Baby in You, which is one of my favorite songs he’s done. He is now stunning everyone by releasing yet another album, his 3rd in 9 months, and his 2nd acoustic project. The album is titled The Most Pretentious Album Since Axl’s, alluding to Axl Rose.

This album will be shared at Great Scott’s in Allston on February 25th at a CD listening party. If you’re at least 18, available 8pm on the 25th, and have $8 you must head to Great Scott’s and hear Robby’s new album. To commemorate the occassion we are proud to share his official trailer with you. Additionally, Robby will be featured, with his permission, in our Music to Game By segment on Thursday’s podcast. We will play a song from his previous acoustic album LRP for you.
