Tom Barbalet Joins CWF Game Cast http://www.wargamingforums.com/testblogging/tom-barbalet-joins-cwf-game-cast/ Thu, 04 Nov 2010 20:35:18 +0000 http://wargamingforums.com/?p=3269

In Episode 37 of our podcast I announced a bunch of changes. Foremost among those was our return to podcasting. Tom Barbalet, of Noble Ape fame, will be joining our team as my co-host on the podcast. He runs several amazing podcasts including Ape Reality, dealing with the Noble Ape simulation, Biota, on A.I, Model Rail Radio, a live call-in model railroading podcast, and Stone Ape, a philosophical discussion format featuring Heron Stone.

Tom brings a wealth of knowledge along his witty and friendly personality. He also seems to know something about just about everything!

I am delighted to announce his involvement with the podcast and with CWF Game Cast. I could tell you more about Tom but instead I’ll direct you to a Youtube video he made introducing himself to Noble Ape visitors.

This is a mini-cast to verbally announce my guest appearance on the Stone Ape Podcast by Tom Barbalet. I discuss how I came to be invited by Tom, who he is and what he does, and also gloss over some of the topics I hope to discuss on the Stone Ape Podcast.

Don’t forget that I will exclusively reveal a GIGANTIC secret on the Stone Ape Podcast. When Tom publishes the episode I will link to it so that all of you can have a listen.

P.S. In the recording I say I last casted 2 or 3 years ago. The last cast I released was CWF-2008-4-10 News, Server Move Complete, Getting Out of Axis & Allies Minis, and Musical Guest Black Crowes.

Yes! We are returning to podcasting but not how you may think. We will be the guest for this Sunday’s recording of the iTunes New & Noteworthy listee Stone Ape Podcast by Tom Barbalet, A.I. extraordinaire. Tom is the creator of the Noble Ape A.I., which Apple has taken and provides on all computers as part of their CHUD tools. He also is a self-declared long time fan. We are grateful for all the support we receive from people all over.

On Sunday Tom and I will be chatting for over an hour about gaming, this blog, and who knows what else. One thing I do know is that I will be revealing a big secret. I hope that you will listen to the Stone Ape podcast to hear my conversation with Tom and that you listen to the other episodes of the Stone Ape podcast. They’re very laid back and informative.

Postini Fixed, E-mail Operational http://www.wargamingforums.com/testblogging/postini-fixed-e-mail-operational/ Fri, 10 Sep 2010 00:33:15 +0000 http://wargamingforums.com/?p=2865

With the help of Blue Host we have fixed the Postini problem. When this feature was activated it was not fully synchronized with our account. That was rectified and we are up and operational.

You can now e-mail us at our usual e-mail address. So, please send all e-mail to cwfgamecast@wargamingforums.com like before. In fact, if you would send us a test e-mail we’d appreciate it. Postini was a little overzealous and we want to make sure all legitimate e-mails get through.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. If you e-mailed us from 5pm EST on 9/8/10 until 4:30pm EST on 9/9/10 we did not get your message. Please resend it to us.

Our E-mail is NOT Working Thanks A-Lot POSTINI http://www.wargamingforums.com/testblogging/our-e-mail-is-not-working-thanks-a-lot-postini/ Thu, 09 Sep 2010 20:15:44 +0000 http://wargamingforums.com/?p=2859

We recently installed Postini to protect our e-mail address from viruses and spam. It seems that Postini is too aggressive and has not allowed any e-mail to reach us since 5pm EST on 9/8/10. If you e-mailed us between then and now we did not receive it.

Please re-send your e-mail to me at jon@frakmedia.net. This is an alternative e-mail address I use for my work with the Battlestar Galactica Wiki and FrakMedia LLC.

We have Blue Host, our web hosting company, looking into the issue to help us resolve this. At worst we will remove the Postini protection. This overzealous “protection” is much worse than the few spam that was received.

We apologize for this inconvenience.

The CWF Game Cast has implemented the P2 theme, developed by Automattic who also makes WordPress, in a new venture. We will be unveiling a new project that will let us more easily show what we are working on.

This will allow you to more easily communicate with us about our projects. It will also allow us to more easily announce future projects and any technical issues with the blog. Our new project is called Hermes and it will soon be publicly revealed.

Recently, visitors may have experienced some difficulties with the blog. I was alerted to a few problems that needed to be fixed.

The most pressing issue concerned registering a user account. Some users were notified they did not have sufficient Javascript capabilities, others could not log in to their account for the first time, and others never received their logins. I utilize a variety of anti-spam, anti-virus, and anti-bot capabilities to preserve the blog’s integrity while also making sure visitors have a safe gaming environment. Those methods were a little too stringent. With some tweaking I have been able to solve all of the problems that some users faced when registering their accounts.

The other area of concern were our image galleries. We have many galleries showcasing card scans, screen shots, press photos, and more for the games we discuss. When we upgraded to the latest version of WordPress, and associated plugins, an error triggered one of them. The afflicted plugin helped us to better manage our media library. But, it was diseased and caused the images to not display. We have removed that plugin and are happy to state that our image galleries are properly functioning.

I apologize for the inconvenience these problems have caused you. If you notice any other problems, please send us an e-mail at cwfgamecast [at] wargamingforums [dot] com.

No Game Night Tonight = Thanks Digital Dads & C.C. Chapman http://www.wargamingforums.com/testblogging/no-game-night-tonight-thanks-digital-dads-c-c-chapman/ Wed, 21 Jul 2010 18:18:25 +0000 http://wargamingforums.com/?p=2404 Wednesday nights are game nights. I play World of Warcraft CCG (we raid), War at Sea, or Dungeons & Dragons 4th edition. Tonight’s game night is being canceled, which is a shame because I would be playing with WAS: Condition Zebra for the first time.

As with most things there is a silver lining. I won two Tapis Rouge (aka red carpet or VIP) tickets to the sneak preview of Cirque du Soleil’s OVO on the new Boston waterfront. I won these in a contest at Digital Dads, which is run by C.C. Chapman (yes, THAT C.C. Chapman). My father and I will be having a night on the town. Hopefully I will have some pictures to share (none allowed during the performance).

Many thanks to Digital Dads and C.C. Chapman for this tremendous opportunity.

We return you to our regularly scheduled broadcasting.

This posted on my iPad.
